Flynn's quickED Contractor's School - providing contractor education for over 10 years!

Utah Contractor CE Course Description

There have been recent changes in the continuing education (CE) requirements to renew your Utah contracting license for the 2017 renewal season. Flynn's quickED, formerly Contractor's School, ensures that every area of your business is covered and helps you realize the things you should be doing to stay in compliance and in business for years to come. It's a great opportunity to utilize our knowledge and expertise to increase yours!

HOURS REQUIRED: Although there are some changes to the requirements, there are a few that remain the same. The number of required hours remains at six. Three of the hours must be Core credit and the other three hours may be additional Core or Professional credit. However, beginning with the 2017 renewal, NO MORE THAN THREE HOURS may be taken online. You must take at least three of the six hours in a live setting.

APPROVED CONTRACTOR CE PROVIDERS: Only those courses found on the DOPL online registry are approved for contractor continuing education. The Utah Legislature has designated which entities may provide contractor CE. A list of their courses can be found here. Following completion of a course, CE course providers will upload attendance hours automatically into the system within seven business days. Renewal is not possible unless the CE requirement has been met.

TRACKING YOUR CE HOURS: You may track your CE hours on the DOPL registry website. Type your license number in the box on the far right of the screen and hit select. A list of the courses you have taken will display. If "no results found" displays, it means you have no CE hours recorded with DOPL. If you believe you have taken an approved course and it is not displaying, contact the CE provider.

MULTIPLE CONTRACTING LICENSES: If you are legally involved with more than one contractor's license, you may take the same six hours for multiple licenses. You must give your CE provider each of those contracting license numbers for the courses to be uploaded to DOPL.

ELECTRICAL OR PLUMBING CONTRACTORS: In addition to the above contracting CE requirement, you have an individual CE requirement (Electricians - 16 hours; Plumbers - 12 hours). BEGINNING WITH THE 2017 contractor renewal, unless you take your individual CE hours from an approved contractor CE provider, those individual hours WILL NOT count toward your contractor CE. If you want your hours to count toward your contracting CE requirement as well as your 16 or 12 hour individual requirement, make sure you take courses from a provider who is approved to offer BOTH contracting and electrical or plumbing individual hours. Also, be sure and give your approved provider BOTH your contracting and individual license number to upload hours for both licenses.
